Shalom Yeladim

Shalom Yeladim, a program for children ages 2-6 and their parents,  teaches Jewish values, holidays and ritual through songs, crafts, stories and fun. Shalom Yeladim lays a foundation for creating children’s desire to identify and participate in the Jewish community.
 
Shalom Yeldaim will meet once a month on Sunday mornings from 10:00am - 12:00pm at Har Shalom. Tuition is $50.00 per child, payable at the first class. Families interested in learning more about Shalom Yeladim  can contact Marla Stills at 970-375-0613.

Ruach Tovah

B'Nai Mitzvah Classes

The major focus of any classes will be practice and improvement of Hebrew reading, learning how to read and chant Shabbat prayers and blessings, with emphasis on their meaning and significance.  It is hoped that the students will lead a Friday evening or Shabbat morning service at some time during the year. 

Holidays, traditions and rituals will also be discussed, as well as other subjects that will reinforce the students’ sense of their Jewish identity and commitment.  The students will perform a class mitzvah project, as well as individual mitzvah projects, and will interact with the other youth education programs. 

 As each student approaches within a few months of the date for their Bar or Bat Mitzvah, they will also attend frequent individual tutoring sessions with the instructor to prepare more intensively for their event, concentrating on learning their maftir and haftorah, with related blessings.  Arrangements for time and location for these private sessions will be between the parents and the instructor.

 The only requirements for the B’nai Mitzvah classes are that families belong to the congregation, that students are between the ages of 11 and 15, that they have at least an elementary reading knowledge of Hebrew, and that they wish to prepare for their Bar or Bat Mitzvah.
